With the Rams football team losing a most unlucky 13th game in a row Saturday to Air Force, a lot of discussion lately has been made about whether Sonny Lubick should remain the coach of the Rams.
It's clear that Sonny has lost most if not everything that made the program at one time one of the most consistently successful in the nation.
But if one really looks closely at the situation, it's clear that there is not an easy answer.
With the success the Rams enjoyed in the early 90s and at the turn of the century, Lubick almost single-handedly brought in millions of dollars to the university. The football field was renovated and a new athletic administration was built among other improvements.
But attend just one of Lubick's postgame news conferences and it'll be pretty clear just how much luster Lubick has lost-- that is if you can hear the 70-year-old coach over the cheer from the opposing team's locker next door.
So, as I see there are three options:
1. Fire Lubick and his entire staff and start from scratch.
2. Keep Lubick and fire his staff.
3. Lubick stays and so does his staff.
I'll go with option No. 2; it pays respect to Lubick while at the same time taking action for all the terrible things that have happened.
