Alumni extravaganza

Looking for fun, meaningless sporting events to attend during homecoming week? If so, then CSU has got what you need.

Friday the current CSU volleyball team will take a break from atop the Mountain West to play a squad of former Rams at 7 p.m.

The alumni weekend extravaganza continues at 10 a.m. Saturday with the women's swimming and diving alumni meet at Moby Pool.

And finally, the excitement concludes Sunday at noon with the softball alumni game.

And oh yeah, by the way, there's a football game this weekend also.

Taking the term homecoming literally, the Rams return to Hughes Saturday to face San Diego State after playing three of their first four games outside of Fort Collins.

History looks to be on CSU's side this weekend as coach Sonny Lubick is 11-3 in homecoming games with the Rams. However, CSU has dropped two in a row to the lowly Aztecs and Lubick has never had a losing streak more than four games until last year.

SDSU senior quarterback Kevin O'Connell is putting up big numbers so far this year but has only one win to show for it. Look for the Rams to get their running game back on track against an Aztec defense that is giving up yards like Britney Spears is custody of her kids.

My guess is that the CSU tops SDSU 34-31 in one of the worse MWC games ever.
