Rock on

After watching the Rams football team suffer through its 11th straight loss and seeing the Denver Broncos get run over by the Indianapolis Colts this weekend, things were far from perfect for Colorado sports fans.
But low and behold, here come the Colorado Rockies to save the day.

I'm not a big believer in the term "team of destiny," but there's really no other way to describe Clint Hurdle's crew, who won 13 of its last 14 games to win the National League Wild Card.

I've been going to sporting events since before I could remember, but Monday's tiebreaker against the San Diego Padres in which the Rockies came back to score three runs in the 13th inning to win, was the best, most entertaining, thrilling, emotional, drawn out, nail-biting sporting event I've ever experienced.

It was quite possibly the most well spent $15 ever.

But the fun is just beginning, right?

Well, only if you're a lucky and have deep pockets.

Tickets to the division series against the Philadelphia Phillies, which are marked up substantially from the regular season price, are sold out and are selling several times more than than face value on auction sites like stubhub.com.

Turning a profit on Rockies tickets and having the Rocky Mountain Collegian make national news are two things I never thought possible. The apocalypse must be soon.

It's "lo and behold," not "low."

Looks like you missed an entry, too.

Bummer.

Sean-
You want to know something that I never thought was possible? Other than seeing the Collegian in National headlines and watching the Rockies win, it was seeing you working. You even post blogs at 1:40 AM. Interesting. Anyway, you are probably one of my favorite sports editors, and you look good doing it. :)

Your secret admirer.
