Women's cross country, CSU's finest

Congratulations to the women's track team for edging out Adams State on Saturday to take home the Colorado State Classic title. The men weren't so successful against the Grizzlies, though, finishing second to D-II's No. 2 team.

And despite of her wishes not to, I have to recognize senior April Thomas for winning the women's individual race, running the 5-kilometer loop around Hughes Stadium eight seconds faster than anyone else.

Tops among the individual men was Adams State's Aaron Bruan, a Rocky Mountain High School grad.

Speaking of cross country, can you name the only ranked varsity team at CSU?

How about the women's cross country squad, ranked 18th in the last USTFCCCA poll.

Volleyball is getting close to the top-25, though, rattling off its seventh win in a row Saturday against New Mexico.

The girls should likely face their toughest test of the season on Saturday when they travel to Salt Lake City to battle Utah.

Football's also on the road this weekend, looking to snap its nine-game losing streak against defending Conference-USA-champion Houston.
