Revenge, kind of

The Rams are calling it a shot at revenge. But you get the feeling a win tonight against the Buffs just won't be enough.

Saturday's overtime loss to CU at Invesco was just too devastating and too heartbreaking to have it wiped away by a victory on the volleyball court, as the two teams square off Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Moby Arena.
"It’s definitely redemption time for the football game. It’s for bragging rights. It’s for the respect of your school. It’s competitive, it’s scrappy and it’s intense."

-Senior right side hitter Tonya Mokelki, from Thursday's Rocky Mountain Collegian
That's not to say that CSU fans shouldn't enjoy the matchup. Led by reigning Division I player of the week, Mekana Barnes, the Rams appear to have the upper hand tonight, having not lost to the Buffs at home in more than a decade (1995).

And how bout some props for Ms. Barnes, taking home national and conference player of the week honors. Not bad recognition for a school that could use some. Barnes came up huge when her team needed it the most, leading the Rams to a perfect weekend in the Coors Classic after they began the season 0-3 for the first time since 1977.

CSU senior middle blocker Amanda Fahnestock says she loves it when fans get crazy and paint themselves green, and frankly I do too. So, listen to her and go cheer on the Rams tonight.

It may not be as sweet, but it's still revenge.

Fight on you stalwart Ram team, Fight On.
